ABOUT CLASSES
Pre-school 10 months - 3 years gym tots
This is a chance for parents/guardians to have fun with their young children in a safe and stimulating gymnastic environment.
Sessions are suitable for children aged 14 month to 3 years old who are accompanied by their parent/guardians.
Many children start with this session and then move on to a coached class (kinder gym 3-5 years).
There is always a qualified coach in attendance to assist and advise but during this session parents/guardians are responsible for their children.
Pre-school 3-5 classes kinder gym
Structured gymnastic sessions designed for children aged 3 - 5 years to help develop a confident and co-ordinated youngster. Gymnasts work in small groups under the direction of a coach.
Children in this class experience jumping, swinging and balancing activities in order to improve overall co-ordination, spatial awareness and basic motor skills.
The children work in a safe and stimulating environment which utilises a vast range of equipment and soft play.
Recreational
Gymschool classes are for boys and girls of school age regardless of ability and aptitude. Classes last for one hour in a fun, but structured environment.
Display Team
The display team meet once a week for 2 hours. This group attend events such as Gymfest and perform around the country at various gymnastic extraveganza.
Many of the gymnasts in this group also attend one or more of the apparatus classes.
Adult Class
These sessions are structured under the guidance of qualified and very experienced coaches.
This class caters for complete beginners wanting to learn some gymnastic based exercise to advanced ex-gymnasts wanting to keep fit and to see what they can still achieve!
Stage 2
Stage 2 classes are invite only and the next level up from our recreational classes. These classes are designed to progress the gymasts througth the next step of gymnastic elements using the full range of gymnastic equipment.
Apparatus
Apparatus classes are invite only and the next level up from our stage 2 classes. These classes are designed for the older more experienced gymnast. The class runs for 2 hours allowing these gymnasts to develop to the next level.
Intermediate
This group is the first level of the competitive stream of the gymnastics initiative where gymnasts train twice a week for 2 hours at a time. this group competes at the beginner level floor and vault competitions
Advanced Club
This group is the next level of the competitive stream of the gymnastics initiative where gymnasts train three times a week for 2 hours at a time. This group competes at the intermediate floor and vault and level 5 voluntary 4 piece competitions
As part of the wide and varied programme that sportscotland national centre inverclydes gymnastic iniviative provides, the above groups attend annually, a summer display and christmas competition. Within the block booking system gymnasts work on their British gymnastics association badge and certificate which are presented at our annual 'family week' where parents/guardians, aunties and uncles and gran and grandads are invited to come and watch the gymnasts in action (and even have a shot themselves!!!!)
